Task 2: Get the general pictures of information presented in infographics

What is the first thing that catches your eyes? Can you immediately get the impression of the thing that the text title suggests?
Go back to the infographics and do a closer reading on them to find answers to the questions that follow.




1.     First impression: What is the first thing that catches your eye? What might this tell you about what you are looking at?
The first thing that catches my eyes is the picture of the plate. There are some groups of food on the plate that we can choose. The picture tell that we should have the right portion of food and eat various good food in our daily meal to keep our health.
2.     Title: What is the title? Does that reinforce your thoughts regarding what you thought this was about, or change them?
The title is “The eatwell plate” and “For Health..eat some food from each group..everyday!”
The title reinforce my thoughts that they are about right portion and various food for maintaining the good health.
3.     The story: What is the story that the infographic is trying to tell? Is it just a visualization, does it show change over time, is it comparing and contrasting?
            It tells about the amount of food we should eat with grouping. It is comparing the kind of      
            food  we should eat in right portion.
4.     Patterns: What are the patterns and connections visible in the infographic?
They are a categorial infographic with text and image.
5.     Numbers: What is the quantitative information presented in the infographic? What does it tell you?
The quantitative information of the infographic is described with a plate by dividing the the  food into some groups with the right portion. The information is about the amount of food we should take by comparing with other food.
6.     Data: What is the data source? Use your claim testers to determine if this data source if valid and trustworthy.
It is from Department of Health (Government) and we can check it by visiting the government website.
7.     Audience: Why do you think the author(s) chose to present the information in this way? Who is their audience?
To persuade the readers to eatwell in each day. The people in general especially people who care for their health.
8.     Summarize: Summarize the infographic in a few sentences. What is the gist of the infographic and the most important take away points?
The Infographic informs us to eat well for maintaining good health. We can use ‘the eatwell plate’ to help us get the balance right. The plate shows how much of food we should eat from each food group. We should eat food from each group on the eatwell plate in the right portion each day.

The first thing that catches my eyes is about the swine that contributes most in pandemic influenza A virus.
2        Title: What is the title? Does that reinforce your thoughts regarding what you thought this was about, or change them?
The title is The emergence of pandemic influenza A virus strains mechanisms.
3        The story: What is the story that the infographic is trying to tell? Is it just visualization, does it show change over time, is it comparing and contrasting?
The infographic is not just visualization. It tells the mechanism how the influenza A virus spread in the environment.
4        Patterns: What are the patterns and connections visible in the infographic?
It is a chronological text and images.
5        Numbers: What is the quantitative information presented in the infographic? What does it tell you?
I couldn’t find the quantitative information at this infographic because there is no numbers information.
6        Data: What is the data source? Use your claim testers to determine if this data source if valid and trustworthy.
It is from Nature Publishing Group in 2006. I think it is valid because of the legal institution.
7        Audience: Why do you think the author(s) chose to present the information in this way? Who is their audience?
The author presents that information in order to inform the readers about the mechanism of this virus. The audiences are people in general, health stakeholders, and breeders.
8        Summarize: Summarize the infographic in a few sentences. What is the gist of the infographic and the most important take away points?
Influenza A viruses of swine and avian have infected humans with each of these so-called zoonotic infections provides an opportunity for virus adaptation to the new host. Fortunately, most of these human infections do not yield viruses with the ability of sustained human-to-human transmission.

The first thing that catches my eyes is the colors that used in the map. They might tell us about the reading habits in the country.
2        Title: What is the title? Does that reinforce your thoughts regarding what you thought this was about, or change them?
The title is “Readers round the world”.
3        The story: What is the story that the infographic is trying to tell? Is it just a visualization, does it show change over time, is it comparing and contrasting?
It tells about the reading habits are depending on the country. It contains texts and images comparing the reading habits depending the country.
4        Patterns: What are the patterns and connections visible in the infographic?
The patterns are chronological, geographical, and categorical with numbers and image.
5        Numbers: What is the quantitative information presented in the infographic? What does it tell you?
It is presented with the percentage of reading habits depending the country. It tells me about reading habits with time of reading, the type of book, gender, and age.
6        Data: What is the data source? Use your claim testers to determine if this data source if valid and trustworthy.
It is from Superjob.ru. It should be checked by visiting the website to find out the validity.
7        Audience: Why do you think the author(s) chose to present the information in this way? Who is their audience?
To describe and compare the reading habits of readers around the world depending on the country. The audiences are from general people, especially academics, govenrment, librarian, book publisher and writers.
8        Summarize: Summarize the infographic in a few sentences. What is the gist of the infographic and the most important take away points?
It shows us the reading habits are depending on the country you live in. This infographic presents most avid readers in the world. In India, people spend with a book more than 10 hours a week. In the top five countries, there are also Thailand, China, Philippines, Egypt, and the Czech Republic. United States is in the fourth group (marked in yellow color), together with Canada, Germany, and Italy. Readers in these countries read between 5 and 6 hours a week.

It is www.healthyireland.ie while the source is form Department of Health in December 2016.
3        What could be the author’s purpose for creating it?
To provide practical support for individuals and families to make healthier food choices and to ultimately improve their health and wellbeing.
4        Who is probably the target audience?
People in general, health practitioner, doctor, nurse, nutritionist, government, people who want to live better health.
5        Does the design and wording “work” for this audience? Could it be better?
Yes. I think the design is so comprehensive and easy to understand. Yes. It could be better by redesigning the picture and the size of the text.
6        Is it easy for you to get the author’s message? Why?
I think it is easy to det the author’s message because the food given pyramid helps us to understand what we should choose food for our life. 
7        Which information, facts, and data are essential to include? Which aren’t?
I think the reason from giving the advice and prohibition to eat food must be clear. Serving size guide is not essential to include in this infographic.
8        Is the information presented in the infographic reliable? What’s your clue?
Yes. It is. The title is healthy food for our life which described by the food pyramid with the correlated information.
