ASSIGNMENT

You are exposed to
students with different characteristics. When you provide a case study in
class, students give different analysis or answers. What response do you give
to the response given by the students?========================================================================
The humanism learning theory considers on cognition, emotion,
interests, motivation and potential of the students during the process of
learning. It also considers the understanding of students’ inner thought and
admits their difference in interests, needs, experience and individual
personality. In the learning process, teacher can give a case
study to engage students in higher-order thinking skills. When students are
given a case study to investigate, they may differ from one another in a wide
variety of ways, including their responses to the given case study or issue.
As
a teacher, I have to be aware that students have different level of motivation,
different attitudes about teaching and learning, and different responses to
specific classroom environments and instructional practices. I need to maintain
a safe learning environment for students. I should appreciate and accommodate
the similarities and differences among the students’ responses in a positive
manner. I have to be supportive, encouraging, and respectful of students’ ideas
in class and I can correct their wrong answers or point out weaknesses without
discouraging the students. I show students the courtesy of listening to and
responding to their answers when they offer an idea. Rather than dismissing a
weak or inaccurate idea immediately, I ask the students to clarify it using
class material in order to help students talk or give more thoughtful responses.
