ASSIGNMENT M2 KB 1.1
Give your opinion on the video show and how will pedagogical
competencies of the 21st century teachers be affected?
VIDEO:
THE FUTURE CLASSROOM AND STUDENTS’ LIFE
The video shows how technology
influences teaching and learning process and students’ life. The classroom in
the video is interactive with lots of technology use. Teacher explains about
plants and greenhouse effect using smart board or a kind of huge computer
screen. The school hallways has digital bulletin board to provide some
information for students. After learning process in the classroom, the students
are accompanied by teacher go to real world to see the plants and learn more
about greenhouse effect. The students are engaged in the learning process.
The students’ life in the video is also
technology based. I think the students in the video are from the high income
families. They start their day using their smart tablet and iPad. The features
of the gadget help them to be motivated in reading and learning more about
their subjects before and after the class. Using technology, students can learn
everywhere with their gadgets. But, problems can come up with this situation. I
watch that the students use their gadgets all day even in the break/lunch time.
And it can be problem with their social interaction with others and with their eyesight.
So, teachers and parents should be aware for this problem.
Pedagogical competencies of the 21st
century teachers will be affected by the technology. Teachers have to adapt and
adopt the technology in the teaching and learning process to gain the skills of
21st century. Teachers need to conduct participatory learning in the
learning process. Participatory learning is not simply a matter of interaction,
but of interaction that results in the co-creation of learning. Moving towards
a new pedagogy is not simply a matter of offering learners technologies they
are likely to use in the knowledge society. 21st pedagogy will
involve engaging students or learners in apprenticeships for different kinds of
knowledge practice, new processes of inquiry, dialogue and connectivity.
